One of the most popular events at the Morton Pumpkin Festival is our Pumpkin Classic Run & Walk, sponsored by LIBBY’S® Pumpkin.
The 2-mile event is now officially an untimed fun run/walk and kicks off just ahead of the 10K runners. We will begin the festivities at 7:00am and send off the 2-milers at 7:15am, followed by the 10k runners at 7:30am. This will allow for less congestion throughout the race, at the split, and most importantly at the finish line! The flat course runs through town to the outskirts of Morton and then finishes on Jefferson Street, in the heart of the Pumpkin Festival.
The 2-mile fun run/walk welcomes old, young, short, tall, strollers, and wheelchairs. No roller blades or dogs allowed in either event.
After the race, participants are invited to join us at the Post Race Party for beverages, snacks, our famous pumpkin donuts, music, and a fun area to hang out with fellow racers and family members. RETURNING IN 2020 – each participant will receive a complimentary entry to the Pumpkin Pancake Breakfast! There will be an awards ceremony at approximately 9:00am.

PRICE: $30 for the 2 Mile Fun Run/Walk (untimed), $40 for the 10K
This race has a limited capacity for runners. Race shirts are only guaranteed to those who register before we hit capacity or by midnight on Monday, September 14, 2020, whichever comes first. Adult sizes of the race shirt will be long-sleeved and youth sizes will be short-sleeved.
In-person registration is available during Friday’s packet pick-up ONLY with credit/debit. No race shirt will be given to in-person registrants, but you will still receive a ticket to the pancake breakfast.
Important Note: Given the race route for the 10K is a part of the Pumpkin Festival’s parade route, please recognize that the 10K course will require all participants to maintain a minimum pace of 16:00 minutes per mile. Anyone not able to maintain this pace will be asked to proceed at their own risk on the sidewalks with no course support. Note that the sidewalks will be quite busy given the preparations for the parade. If necessary, please choose to participate in the 2-mile event which has no time restrictions and still results in a pancake breakfast!
Prizes: One overall winner for the 10K Men’s, Women’s and Wheelchair divisions will receive $50 in Chamber Checks. Top 3 finishers in each age group will receive a pumpkin pie! All 10K finishers will receive a pumpkin finisher’s medal. The 2-mile fun run/walk does not have any prizes, but also includes the post-race party/refreshments and the pumpkin pancake breakfast!

Coinciding with the reimagined Roaring Pumpkins and All That Jazz, the Pumpkin Classic will be a virtual run/walk. We look forward to seeing our 1,500+ runners and walkers every year, but in the name of caution (among many other things!), we are going to make this an event everyone can enjoy safely and at their own timing.
As part of the run, you will run your own 10k or 2 mile course anytime during Roaring Pumpkins and All That Jazz (September 16-19). There will be no official course to run and no set time to start – you get to choose! You’ll submit your race results to us and we will have a 2020 leaderboard – details to come. When you register at the (now-reduced!) entry rate for 2020, you will receive one of our amazing tech race shirts and be part of a great community event where we continue to raise funds for Project Pumpkin. We have a few additional benefits that you will receive, including some “Pumpkin Bucks” for food at our Pumpkin Drive Thru. Last but not least, over the coming weeks we will be releasing information on how to earn one of our delicious prizes during your run!
While this is not the event we pictured for the 2020 Festival, we are excited to create a fun version that allows for everyone to remain safe and still get out and train for a great cause. Our race has always been focused on bringing people together and promoting healthy habits – it will simply need to look a bit different this year. Where other events have had to cancel entirely, we wanted to create something enjoyable where we can all continue to support our local community by participating in our own way.
