Returning Fun for All Ages at the 2020 Roaring Pumpkins and All That Jazz

MORTON, IL – With August brings excitement, as Roaring Pumpkins and All That Jazz is little more than a month away.

Registrations for the numerous events and competitions have also begun to open, including registrations for events that previously have not required registration. Those interested in participating in any of the following events can read more and sign up at www.mortonpumpkinfestival.org.

August 27

Pumpkin Idol Jr: Sponsored by Potter’s Alley. This singing competition for ages 8 – 12 gives young talent an opportunity to showcase and fine tune their skills. Preliminaries are on August 27 at Potter’s Alley and the final performance will be recorded and broadcasted on the Morton Pumpkin TV Channel.

September 9

Libby’s Pumpkin Recipe Challenge: Sponsored by Libby’s Pumpkin. With categories for junior chefs, home-cooks, professionals, and introducing a new category for a Modern Pumpkin Pie, all are invited to submit their best pumpkin recipes for this competition. Judging will take place on September 9 at Freedom Hall or entries may choose to submit their Modern Pumpkin Pie in the virtual competition.

September 15 – 17

Pumpkin Decorating Contest: Sponsored by Ackerman Family Farms. Drop off your pumpkin on Monday or Tuesday at Ackerman Family Farms, where all the pumpkins will be displayed through Saturday, September 19.

Pumpkin Weigh Off: Sponsored by Libby’s Pumpkin. Bring your pumpkins to the corner of First and Jefferson on Tuesday, September 15 to compete in this year’s Pumpkin Weigh Off. Online pre-registration is encouraged.

Big Wheel Race: Sponsored by G&D Integrated. Ages 10 and under can ride in the fun Big Wheel Race on Tuesday, September 15. Online pre-registration is encouraged.

Kiddie Parade: This year’s parade will become a reverse parade held at Bethel Lutheran, 325 E. Queenwood on Thursday, September 17. Goody bags will be given out to children six and under that have been registered online.

Participating in these events and enjoying food from our Drive Thurs help support the Roaring Pumpkins and All That Jazz give-back mission of supporting our local community.

The 2020 Roaring Pumpkins and All That Jazz will be Wednesday, September 16 – Saturday, September 19, in thanks to our lead sponsor Nestle Libby’s, with several events and programs beginning in late August. The Morton Pumpkin Festival was named the Best of Peoria – Best Community Event once again this year. The Morton Pumpkin Festival generates resources to allow the Morton Chamber of Commerce to fulfill their mission to strengthen business and enhance community.
